About

As a Past President of the BCS, The Chartered Institute for IT, I chaired the Board of Trustees, as Immediate Past President, later chairing the BCS Nominations and Remuneration Committees and sat on the Trustee Board. I represented and supported the IT profession in the UK and was a leader and Ambassador of our 58,000 members globally. I am a Fellow of the Institute I am currently also a 'Member' of Chichester University Academy Trust with 15 schools in the South of the UK supporting over 3,500 students. For the past 17 years I have served as a Pikeman in the City of London 'Company of Pikemen & Musketeers' the Lord Mayor's private ceremonial bodyguard, I also mentor soldiers of the Royal Corps of Signals. As Master of the IT Livery Company I chaired the Court meetings, hosted and spoke at regular major public and Livery events, representing the IT Company at approx.200 Livery/City /Civic events during the year. I still serve on the Court and Livery Committee and work as an active member with the Education, Employment and Entrepreneur Committees. As Clerk(CEO) of the Company of Information Technologists, I ran a membership organisation of over 800 of the most successful, charitable and influential suppliers, users, funders and advisers within the UK ICT Industry. I `incorporated' three companies, the last of which was by Royal Charter. I served on the Financial Services Group of Companies, supporting the Lord Mayor and working on the 'Trust and Integrity' initiative for the City. Earlier I founded Michael Grant and Associates Ltd, an ICT specialist recruitment company for senior executives in Marketing and Sales across Europe, which I had ran for over five years. More recently I spent 5 years as an Associate Director of Harvey Nash plc. Prior to having my own executive search company I had worked for over 30 years in senior international marketing and communication roles within International companies such as Gateway, Lotus , Commodore, ICL and Prime Computer. I also worked in the marketing communications agency Hill Holliday based in the US, handling the Wang account across Europe. Initially I spent six years with Redifon Flight Simulation as Marketing Services Manager working with international airlines and air forces, much of this with USAF in the US, lobbying the Senate and the Pentagon. I have recently completed my 340th visit to the USA, with family members living in Pennsylvania. Currently I am writing monthly episodes about my lessons, fun and stories of my unusual career and life.

My role is to Chair the Board of Trustees and other committees,represent our profession and the BCS globally.I currently Chair the Nominations and Remuneration Committees and am a BCS Trustee .
