About

I really enjoy using Ruby and other technologies to do all sorts of fun stuff. I learned from some of the great teachers of the language and I stay abreast of the growing ecosystem. I'm also an expert on Apple technology and the many ways it can be deployed for small businesses. In my free time I like researching music and do some non-fiction writing.

  • Full Stack Developer at Literally Media

I maintained the Rails application that ran the Internet Meme Database at KnowYourMeme.com, did some feature development and revenue optimization, and assisted heavily with moderation by integrating with the team of volunteers.

  • Author at Ways We Mage
    Jan 2017 - Jun 2019 · 2 yrs 6 mos

As I considered how to sell my book about different ways to engage with Magic cards, for fun, a challenge and personal development, I wanted to be able to deliver updates, and publish alternate versions of the book (e.g. a short version and a detailed version). I wound up developing a web application to make this possible, and included some cool technology - and I vlogged the coding sessions. Fortunately, many of the sessions ended up including some useful lessons about Ruby and many of the software designs I've found over the years.

  • Web Developer at Little Hippie
    Aug 2012 - Oct 2016 · 4 yrs 3 mos

We built an entire e-commerce platform for our own customizable use. This provided us with both a range of unique advantages and learning experiences.

  • Developer Consultant at Cyrus Innovation
    Feb 2016 - Jun 2016 · 5 mos

At Cyrus I strove to help my clients make decisions about how to use the technology available to them, and to implement the system with the careful attention that lets others know how important it is. I didn't dumb down or pre-judge the options more than they needed to be. I got to solo on a new platform for a nonprofit and then spent some time helping a larger team with services and React apps.
