Builders FirstSource is a Fortune 500 company and the leading supplier of building products, prefabricated components and value-added services in the US. The CEO and senior executive team recruited me to prepare them for rapid growth by driving scale and cost-effectiveness into the transportation, logistics, and fleet operations. I’m currently deeply enmeshed as a member of the Executive Leadership Team reporting to the CEO. I administer a 9-figure annual operating budget and 10,000 assets. I lead a team of 15 directors/senior managers with ~400 total resources in the following: ► Logistics operations ► Business transformation programs ► Supplier and vendor management ► Procurement ► Safety ► Compliance ► Fleet operations and maintenance Notable Highlights: ✔ Created an operational framework along with all the processes, controls, and KPIs to centralize operations and improve performance at 400 locations nationally. ✔ Used value engineering and other proven strategies in pricing, procurement, and operations to save more than $11 million. ✔ Delivered significant improvements in key CSA metrics (Compliance, Safety and Accountability). Improved Driver Qualification by 20%, roadside inspections by 5%, and DVIR completion by 18%. ✔ Instituted a change management approach to repair a previously siloed environment, including cross-functional collaborations and sharing of best practices. ✔ Initiated, developed, and implemented an IRP company structure redisgn that reduced regulatory gaps and risks, eliminated inefficiencies, increased compliance, and cut cost.
OVERVIEW: Oversaw the 6th largest private fleet covering all the U.S. and Canada. Led a team of ~260, including 32 managers and supervisors, and reported to the VP of Supply Chain: Service and Distribution. Planned and administered a 9-figure budget, directed repair and maintenance of 23K+ assets, and created a range of strategies to achieve cost reduction goals, including National Fleet Capability, Reliability, and Alternative Fuel programs. HIGHLIGHTS: ☑ Drove an 8-figure annual savings through a multi-pronged strategy of vehicle uptime, asset count, fuel reduction, route engineering, inventory efficiency, and mechanic optimization. ☑ Led the planning and development for a PepsiCo Center of Excellence that unified previously decentralized 26 service center for the company’s 18K drivers. ☑ Enhanced customer support and improved overall functionality of the centers as a result. ☑ Achieved 5% to 7% uptime improvement on a fleet of 23K+ assets, as well as decreasing waste streams (sustainability improvement and cost reduction results) and establishing comprehensive training for Alternative Fuel programs. ☑ Delivered multimillion-dollar annual savings in 2 years by a Parts Supply Chain redesign of annual parts procurement, fulfillment, and inventory strategies. ☑ Revamped asset replacement procedures to achieve higher ROI, increase in average age, and reduction in overall asset count
OVERVIEW: Oversaw efforts in the Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) start-up at Frito-Lay. Guided a team of 28 Distribution Managers and reported to the Senior Director of Fleet Engineering. Managed 9-figure annual fuel spend. Developed vehicle design, specifications, and training modules for ongoing technician training and development. Created supply chain systems for parts and service of new natural gas vehicles. HIGHLIGHTS: ☑ Played key role in driving the CNG program to rise from 0 vehicles to over 400 and a top 5 ranking nationwide among alternative fuel fleets in 2 years. Drove implementation of new technology into the Transportation organization with 1,400 tractors and 28 manufacturing facilities. ☑ Facilitated a series of quantified results from the CNG program that included an 8-figure annual productivity savings, high 8-figure savings over the life of the assets, and the footprint reduction of over 6M gallons of diesel and 6K tons of emissions annually. ☑ Functioned as the Lead Negotiator for RFPs involving the CNG fuel infrastructure across 14 stations, achieving 5% national reduction in pricing vs. previous years. ☑ Secured a mid-6-figure vehicle grant funding and million-dollar infrastructure grant funding to improve project economics. Instituted processes to capitalize on alternative tax credits. ☑ Served as a Public & Media Relations Spokesperson for Frito-Lay station start-ups, presenting at multiple industry conferences (TMC, ATA, multiple Clean City meetings). ☑ Selected to visit the White House for the Department of Energy Clean Cities program, including introductions to President Obama and Secretary of Energy Moniz. ☑ Led the redesign of 14 fleet shops to ensure fire code compliance and enable in-house maintenance for vehicles, including new training and tool procurement
OVERVIEW: Established region fleet-specific strategic plans to drive and improve performance for the 6-region, 22-state West business unit. Led and coached team members while reporting to the Director, Supply Chain Fleet. Managed a high 8-figure annual budget. Contributed to establishing asset lifecycles and part inventories as well as supervision of the West BU. Mentored new leaders and executed the corporate strategy to advance capabilities of fleet operations.
