Spread along a stunning 6km stretch of Muscat's coastline, The Wave, a world-class mixed-use community, comprises luxury hotel and residential properties. The Wave, Muscat is also home to the 400 berth Almouj Marina, Oman's largest private yachting hub. Successfully managed all programmed MEP packages, delivering effective results, to meet contractual, time and financial constraints. During the early part of the execution phase, due to the complexity of services and space constraints on site, we needed an installation method, which would deliver total control of the designated service zones, uniformity and measurable means of monitoring progress on installation works. This was achieved by the use of a modular cradle system. Utilizing a number of 6m modular cradle units, throughout all the main corridors and arterial routes. This method allowed for the effective planning of services, resulting in an exponential movement in the installation process across the project, leaving corridor access free of scaffolds, over longer periods of time, as opposed to leaving walls down in rooms, as a form of access route. A workshop assembly line off site, allowed the controlled manufacture of modules, following the production of BIM 3D model drawings. This type of system allows for all MEP containment works, to be done at ground level, with only high level bolting of the module units, along with cable pulling and final connections into rooms. Hotel corridors are notorious for their space constraints by design; this modular system allowed all the coordination and spacing requirements between services, to be done in a controlled environment, taking away the risk of reworks, so common when using a conventional method, to install services.
