Michael McGowan has spent over 20 years driving process improvement and supporting organisational change as a senior manager, internal & external consultant, trainer, facilitator and project leader. He has worked in a diverse range of local & international organisations in the telecommunications, design, manufacturing, consulting, defence, agriculture & retail sectors. These roles have involved: • Organisational Change / Change Management - assisting organisations to review their operations and opportunities, establish clear, achievable targets, strategies and plans to achieve them, then facilitate and monitor their effective implementation. • Process Improvement - leading, training and facilitating teams to use best practice methodologies, based on Plan Do Check Act (PDCA) cycle, Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing, to map, analyse and improve processes. This has included the development of methodologies, training, support materials & the programs to embed them. • Training & Workshops – establishing clear outcomes then planning developing and running dynamic training programs and workshops that meet and exceed expectations. • Quality Management - documenting current practice so they meet the requirements of International Standards such as ISO 9000, ISO 14001, cGMP, CMM, then ensuring they are followed in a way that adds value to the organisation and forms the basis for continuous improvement. • Coaching & Mentoring - guiding people to identify and define clear goals, identify the blocks that stop the goals from being achieved and supporting them to access the resources to create the results they desire. Life Coaching, Relationship Counselling & Team Building: supporting people, couples and teams to: - identify the outcomes and lifestyle they want - untangle what is currently going on and holding them back - address the blocks that are stopping them - access the resources to move towards what they'd prefer - while enjoying the journey.
Supporting a consulting organisation (Delivery Quality Assurance, DQA) on an assignment to begin the rollout of Business Process Management within the Bureau of Meteorology including o Updating DQA’s Process Improvement Methodology and Self Assessment Matrix o Developing a pilot rollout program o Supporting Stakeholder and Change Management activities
Documenting the ‘Go To Market’ process and supporting it to evolve into a ‘Concept to Customer’ process, including o Documenting the ‘As Is’ process o Engaging stakeholders across Telstra and facilitating workshops to re design the process o Preparation of documentation and training materials o Supporting the rollout of and training in the new processes including the development of supporting software.
