Milwaukee, Wisconsin, United States
In an industry that often focuses on large companies, I'm proud to focus on serving closely-held businesses and entrepreneurial individuals. I believe strongly in the innovative service model of having direct leader involvement on all clients to ensure the highest level of client service. My 30+ years of experience have all involved full service strategic tax and accounting services for closely-held or family businesses and individuals. I work closely with many small businesses and their owners on financial analysis, business management, tax planning, budgeting and general accounting services. This includes professional service businesses, health care practices, manufacturers, and many other industries. Small business accounting is a specialty area in and of itself because each business is unique from the top down, with each company having very different structure, needs, and internal staffing. The one typical common thread is that small business owners are also entrepreneurs, and I focus on helping entrepreneurial minds maximize their business' potential and avoid the typical pitfalls of growth. Specialties: Tax planning and credits, small business consulting and accounting, business startups, craft brewing, healthcare accounting, real estate, accounting software design and implementation, Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) consulting, litigation support, and retirement plan guidance and administration.
I'm excited to begin my "next season" with a pillar of the Milwaukee business community for more than a century! I develop personalized tax strategies by analyzing financial situations, applying current tax law, and integrating client financial goals into long-term cash flow and tax planning. I work closely with hands-on financial advisors to apply my 30+ years of entrepreneurial business and tax experience to address complex tax situations, and translate that to well-designed financial strategies. I also work closely with a highly experienced team of wealth and tax strategists, estate planners, and trust planners for Baird to constantly monitor and update complete financial, tax, and estate plans. We proudly collaborate with the same high quality estate attorneys and tax advisors that helped me build my public accounting career.
I'm proud to serve on the board of directors at Eras Senior Network, an organization that serves hundreds of seniors each month. Eras helps seniors, at no charge, to live independently, including helping with driving for medical appointments, grocery shopping, yard work, and odd jobs. While many seniors have family members who can help, those family members are often working during the day, do not live locally, or have full family obligations that make them less available to help. Eras connects seniors who need help with volunteers, filling an extremely valuable need.
I'm proud to be a volunteer staff at Eras, helping Milwaukee and Waukesha seniors live independently. I love being a volunteer driver for medical appointments, find joy in helping with grocery shopping and food bank pickups, and have the pleasure of doing many other odd jobs like home repairs and yard work for those whose ladder climbing, power tool using, and manual labor days are long past.
After a long career in public accounting, I'm proud to return to my roots of electrical work from my summer job with Merton Electric from ages 10-13. I'm excited to be part of the electrical crew that handles all wiring from initial rough installation to final fixture installation in new family homes in Milwaukee. When I get the itch, I also work as a traditional construction volunteer doing various home construction work. I enjoy working hard with other volunteers to bring the dream of home ownership to lower income families in my great city of Milwaukee.
I take pride in having served Next Act Theatre as a board member from 2010-2025. I have been all in on Milwaukee's awesome performing arts community, including Next Act. Next Act, under the direction of Cody Estle, has continued to provide high quality, thought provoking performances, and expanded its partnership with other local arts groups as a great venue in the Walker's Point Neighborhood. I can buy local, support education and performing arts, and make a difference in the community, all with one organization. Join me at Next Act - www.nextact.org
I was proud to serve as the board President of Next Act Theatre after serving as the Treasurer and Vice President. I enjoy supporting the arts and local charitable organizations, and Next Act is both, putting on a season of four shows each year with local professional performers and production staff.
After serving as the Treasurer of Next Act Theatre for two years, I served as Vice President. I'm proud to be part of one of the premier theatre companies in Milwaukee.
I was honored to be a part of CliftonLarsonAllen, LLP, where I continued the same practice philosophy of Komisar Brady of full service financial guidance to entrepreneurial small businesses and individuals and have access to great industry knowledge and specialty areas. As a principal at CLA, the core of my work was offering accounting and tax services, and I expanded from that core with a customized approach to each client's priorities, internal capabilities, and business and personal goals. A business owner is an extension of his/her business, and I diligently addressed the needs of both. I am passionate about proactive tax guidance, including assessing all possible tax planning opportunities and incentives and applying them to each client's situation. I know my clients' tax situation, I constantly search for tax planning opportunities, and guide my clients through education.
