Retired as a Professor of Instruction - Economics at The University of Texas at Austin. Currently enjoying writing and creating content on issues related to economics, economic history, financial markets, and economic policy. I am also involved in bringing economic history alive in non-academic settings. Over my career I have combined my Ph.D. in economics, my analytical skills, and my passion for teaching to inspire and educate the next generation of economists and business leaders. I have developed and taught courses in various topics, such as sustainable finance, managerial economics, macroeconomics, and global financial crises, in undergraduate, MBA, and executive education programs. With over 20 years of academic and consulting experience in the fields of financial markets and economic policy, I have also authored multiple textbooks, published qualitative research, and delivered executive education in Western Europe and Latin America. I have received over 45 teaching awards for my excellence and innovation in pedagogy, and I am committed to advancing the knowledge and practice of economics in a global context.
Developed and taught MBA level courses in Managerial Economics, Macroeconomics, International Finance, and Global Financial Crises in full-time MBA, working professionals programs, and Executive MBA programs. Modernized and taught one section of undergradute Financial Economics. Awarded Executive MBA outstanding teaching award by Class of 2020.
Developed and taught Principles, Money & Banking, Intermediate Macroeconomic Theory courses in the undergraduate programs as well as Financial Economics course in the undergrad and masters programs. I was also the Director of Special Projects where, among other things, I assisted with the Economics Alumni Advisory Board and the Sports & Society Initiative.
Developed courses, sole instructor and mentor students in the Undergraduate and Masters in Finance programs. Courses focused on financial markets & institutions as well as micro and macroeconomics. Wrote about financial markets (local and globally), macroeconomics and economic policy.
Oversee, teach in, and continously improve undergraduate Business Honors Cohort program.
Taught a summer session of Intermediate Microeconomic Theory to undergraduates and some graduate students.
