Michael Wild, economist, and engineer by education, is active in biomass and renewable energies for practically his entire 35 years professional career and a frontrunner in the bioenergy sector. He developed biomass fired district heating systems, worked with and for IFIs and EC in renewable programs, established the first ever online trading platform for biomass, initiated the acceptance of Palm Kernel Shell as power plant fuel and organized the first ever shipment and following continuous supply of PKS from Indonesia to Europe in 2003. He led the development of one of the first continuous torrefaction processes and holds for 10 years the presidency of the International Biomass Torrefaction and Carbonisation Council IBTC. He is part of Austria’s delegation to IEA Bioenergy. As Biomass trader he developed and operated large scale supply schemes of wood chips, pellets and Palm Kernel Shell to power plants in Europe and Japan from all continents except Australia. He represented two US exporters of wood pellets in Europe, addressing the household markets. Michael is principal of Wild&Partner KG, an Austria based consultancy focused on helping bioenergy initiatives to grow, he is CEO of SmartPelletHeater Ltd, a company specializing in wood pellet fired outdoor heaters, acts as CTO to in the Romanian power plant fuel conversion projects of AAR Biocarbons srl, contributes as consultant to numerous project developments around the globe in solid biomass fuels and carbonization. Michael is providing consultant to major industrial companies ov various sectors in the integration of biomass solutions in their processes and is member of Lee Enterprises Consulting, the Worlds Premier Bioeconomy Consulting Group. Michael is a valued and recurring speaker at the world's major biomass conferences, but increasingly contributes to conferences in the steel and coal sectors.
