New York City Metropolitan Area
What does it mean to lead one of New York's most iconic performing arts institutions? For me, it means doubling our musical theater audience, presenting the world's greatest dance companies, and making sure everyone has access to extraordinary art. As President & CEO of New York City Center — a nonprofit performing arts center serving New Yorkers since 1943 — I believe great cultural institutions must be bold, inclusive, and financially strong to bring the world's best to their stages. In four years of leadership here, I've grown our annual budget from $26M to $39M, deepened our arts education and community engagement programs across all five boroughs, and raised our artistic ambitions on every front. Our Tony-winning Encores! Musical Theater Series just received 11 Tony nominations for Ragtime including Best Revival. We're presenting more international dance — from Paris Opera Ballet to the Australian Ballet — than at any point in our modern history. We're offering more than 60,000 tickets for $30 or less to students, families, and young members. Learn more at nycitycenter.org — and if you're a company or brand looking to align with New York's cultural life, a philanthropist investing in arts education, or a civic leader interested in Board service, I'd love to connect.
New York City Center has played a defining role in the cultural life of the city since 1943. The distinctive Neo-Moorish building was founded by Mayor Fiorello La Guardia as Manhattan’s first performing arts center with the mission of making the best in theater, dance, and music accessible to all audiences. This commitment continues today through celebrated dance and musical theater series like the Fall for Dance Festival and the Tony-honored Encores! series; the annual season by Principal Dance Company Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater; and artist-curated Artists at the Center series. Dedicated to a culture built on the values of curiosity, collaboration, accessibility, and inclusivity, City Center’s dynamic programming, art exhibitions, and studio events are complemented by education and community engagement programs that bring the performing arts to thousands of New York City students, teachers, and families every year, in all five boroughs.
