I consider myself very good at problem solving on machines associated with the printing industry and machines in general. I love finding a problem and engineering it out, to improve up time, productivity , quality and of course health & safety etc. I have been successful in doing this especially within my last print engineer position. For example , I stripped down a particular machine at the site I was at. I implemented the continuous improvements I had worked out whilst observing the machine “running” with minimal cost to the company. The improved output of the machine and minimal cost of upkeep made a massive difference further down the production line, increasing the production by up to 40%. I am finding this part of my job more and more rewarding, not just from a personal point of view but knowing that what i do , can and does make a difference to the company and its products and of course our customers! I am a big advocate for continuous improvements, properly implemented planned maintenance and condition monitoring. In the two years I have been at my present employer, I have written and implemented around 20 PPM procedures . One of which was an entire production line. Coming from the print industry, going into the moulding industry was a steep learning curve . As this was a new maintenance position for me , I did not know anything about the machines or their inner workings. So I worked with managers from different departments, operators and the machine builders and built on my knowledge very quickly to produce these procedures . Of which I am proud of my achievements.
