Deployed on Op REASSURANCE to Latvia as a Project Engineer within the Canadian National Support Element (NSE). I was the project manager for a wide range of horizontal and vertical construction projects and for facilities maintenance contracts. I was involved in all aspects of the project lifecycle, including developing concepts, writing statements of work (SOW), tender through Defence Construction Canada (DCC), project design, project implementation, and project closeout. This was in a complex deployed setting, with many stakeholders including the Canadian Armed Forces, DCC, the Latvian Ministry of Defence, VAMOIC, and other NATO member countries. I was responsible for managing project scope and budgets, developing AutoCAD drawings for tender as well as for change orders, and providing all technical details of the project to DCC for the contractors. I had to navigate the complex State Construction Control Bureau (SCCB) process, while also applying Canadian safety and security requirements.
Led and managed the only troop of Drafting and Surveying Technicians in the Canadian Armed Forces. Ensured that 1 Engineer Support Unit (1 ESU) is able to provide both deployed and domestic drafting and survey support to the Canadian Armed Forces and other government departments anywhere in the world. Core tasks included: -Project management for drafting and surveying tasks -Overseeing final drafting products before they are delivered to clients -Liaising between specialist engineer teams and stakeholders for drafting and surveying tasks -Overseeing refresher training, and continuation training for Drafting and Surveying Technicians -Managing drafting and surveying equipment, and ensuring proper lifecycle management -Providing performance reviews to subordinates, and ensuring high quality feedback is delivered to all members of the troop -Setting the example, and providing high quality leadership to all members of the Drafting and Surveying Troop
