About

I am a barrister, a specialist court lawyer. I have been practicing since 1988. I have successfully argued cases in the Environment and District Courts up to the Court of Appeal. What have I learned in that time? That it is an honour and a privilege to do be able to do what I do, to stand up for people and communities in what are almost always difficult and stressful situations. That advocacy is not for the faint- hearted, that it is an art that requires many years of hard work, and patience to become good at, that an advocate is only as good as their last case. I handle environmental law cases-have had a beach and wetland declared to be outstanding and of ecological significance in the face of three years of opposition from a Regional Council, have saved an historic Auckland building from demolition, have enforced the provisions of a resource consent being breached. I handle civil cases, mainly in the High Court, I have obtained numerous injunctions to prevent money being taken off shore or evidence disposed of. I have won significant cases in contract, negligence, and company law. I handle criminal cases, I have obtained more jury and judge alone acquittals than I can recall. I was successful in obtaining one of the few acquittals in the spate of finance company prosecutions brought by the SFO in the mid 2010's and, to my knowledge the only person to have had his client both acquitted on all charges and granted permanent name suppression. Money is not my driver, injustice is. For the right case or cause I offer concessionary rates and in some cases will work on a pro-bono basis. So, if you are looking for an experienced and skillful advocate, who cares, then please contact me, on 021 845 470 or [email protected]. Nga mihi nui.
