Develop long-term relationships with a wide variety of key healthcare stakeholders within managed care, medical groups, and integrated delivery systems; educate customers on the clinical and economic impact of Pfizer medicines and products; align corporate medical priorities with the specific needs of assigned customers to advance the quality of patient care in areas of mutual interest by identifying provider and/or patient knowledge gaps and areas for quality improvement interventions; develop and maintain an advanced perspective of the evolving clinical and healthcare landscape; utilize advanced HIT understanding to assist customers in data analytics to address population health issues; provide objective and scientifically sound medical information regarding Pfizer’s portfolio and disease states through the use of pharmacoeconomic models, educational programs, outcomes tools, and health outcomes projects; provide Pfizer brand teams with customer and clinical insights to assist in informing Pfizer strategies on critical health issues; facilitate the development of customer-facing tools and medical communications to support patient access to Pfizer medicines; maintain a collaborative, cross-functional working relationship with commercial and other colleagues to develop appropriate joint goals and strategies to meet the medical needs of prioritized customers.
Responsible for the development and operation of the Investigational Drug Service; the protocols included multicenter, international, and investigator-initiated trials in cardiology, geriatrics, gastroenterology, hematology-oncology, infectious diseases, nephrology, neurology, neurosurgery, ophthalmology, psychiatry, pulmonology, radiation-oncology, trauma, and vascular surgery; coordinated dispensing, drug accountability record keeping, inventory control, and education of pharmacy staff, healthcare professionals, and patients; developed procedures to ensure studies were executed with quality, accuracy, efficiency, and compliance with good clinical practices, and attended twice monthly Saint Louis University Institutional Review Board meetings.
Successfully managed a department of 53.5 FTE with a $12 million/year drug budget and a $2 million/year salary budget.
Worked with the Director of Pharmacy Services to ensure proper departmental operations; provided pharmacy services for Saint Louis University Hospital and the University Medical Group; oversaw clinical and department operations; helped maintain department within budgetary guidelines; oversaw departmental charging process and ensured accurate charges were maintained; system administrator for Pyxis and Pyxis 2000 implementation; tracked and reported medication errors to the Director of Pharmacy Services; documented and tracked all department QI and reported data quarterly to the Products, Therapeutics, Nutrition, and Transfusion Committee; interviewed and screened new employees; oversaw new employee orientation and training; developed and oversaw technician and pharmacist work schedules; administered quarterly pharmacist and technician performance appraisals; maintained and presented department Quality Assurance to State and Joint Commission Inspectors; maintained and updated departmental policies and procedures, and provided inservices for changes in departmental operations.
