Michael Lloyd was Vice President of A&R for MGM Records by the age of 20, and for more than 50 years has been producing hit records and soundtracks, earning more than 110 gold and platinum records along the way.
He was taking classical piano at the age of four. At approximately twelve years of age, he started his own band and was in recording studios. And by the time he was 13, he began receiving instruction in musical theory and harmony and the technique of scoring motion pictures. It was at this time he met Mike Curb, which began a long and fruitful friendship and business association that continues today. Curb put Lloyd to work scoring motion pictures, and a few years later, when Curb became president of MGM Records, he brought Lloyd, then 20 years old, in as vice president of A & R. At MGM Records, he signed Lou Rawls, which proved to generate his first major hit - "A Natural Man." Some of the artists he has worked with over the years in¬clude Barry Manilow, Mike Love and the Beach Boys, Belinda Carlisle, Dionne Warwick, Steve Holy, Kimberley Locke, Natalie Grant, Michael English, Bill Medley, Benny Mardones, Stryper, Jennifer Warnes, The Righteous Brothers, The Monkees, Shaun Cassidy, Eric Carman, The Bellamy Brothers, The Burrito Brothers, The New Seekers, Sammy Davis Jr., Air Supply, Carmen, The Osmonds, Tennessee Ernie Ford, Bill Medley, The Pointer Sisters, Leif Garrett, Susie Alllanson, Brush Arbor, Donny & Marie, Maureen McGovern, Roger Williams, Merry Clayton, Debby Boone, and Frank Sinatra, performing a special collector's version of Silent Night. Recently, Lloyd and artist Kimberley Locke made music business history by having 3 consecutive #1 Christmas songs, Up On The Housetop (2005), Jingle Bells (2006) and Frosty the Snowman (2007).
