As a Visual Arts teacher of five years experience in a full-time role I have a great understanding of teamwork, collaborative operation and management in the form of delegation and review of projects, assessment and educating others. I have skills in a versatile range of applications from curriculum and educational program writing, as well as data collection, interpreting and reporting on said data. I have extensive experience creating tailored learning materials for people of a range of abilities, and a knack for forming strong rapports with others to produce a collaborative approach to problem solving. In my role I frequently write academically-minded materials, create visual instructional resources and write individualized reports appraising students progress and development in a positive and easy-to-understand tone. Furthermore, As a freelance graphic designer and illustrator, I can assist companies or individuals on projects that require logo, identity design, brand building and business cards. I can also have the ability to generate interesting and engaging original illustrated art assets using a range of digital and traditional media to enhance visual engagement. Full-time position teaching Visual Arts, Photographic and Digital Media at Gymea Technology High School. Skills and responsibilities including: Designing and implementing educational programs; assessment, review and modification of programs to suit learner needs; delivery of quality content from the departments respective syllabus and curriculum; classroom management; collaborative practice with other educators for the development of quality learning content and lessons; creation of educational materials, instructional worksheets and presentations; maintenance of accreditation (proficient level) and ongoing professional learning to maintain high educational, professional and personal standards for quality teaching, first aid and child protection practices. In this role I have created several programs to deliver Visual Art literacy, critical and historical knowledge, design principles and a range of practical and theory skills to students. I design, deliver and assess student work providing meaningful feedback and managing a diverse range of skill levels within the student cohort. My other duties in this role have included managing classes from other subjects including Computer Technology, Geography, and Design & Technology. I work with a range of programs with a focus on diversifying my skillset to pass on skills to students and facilitate a respectful and collaborative work environment. Building rapport with learners to best understand their individual needs with a focus on modification for accessibility to education for all while maintaining high standards of quality for educational materials. I come with a passion for Aboriginal Education being a Wiradjuri man, and aim to always incorporate respect and knowledge for First Nations culture into my lessons, and endeavour to facilitate an inclusive and respectful culture within my workplace and classroom.
I worked as a casual teacher for some time at Keira High School before being offered a three-day-per-week position working in the Special Education unit with a wonderful group of students of varying needs, dispositions and ability levels. My duties included creating learning materials and planning lessons for classes with students of a range of ages and ability with a modified syllabus and curriculum. My goals were to create challenges, guarantee student understanding, and a stimulating learning environment to engage students. I taught a range of subjects for a number of classes within the unit, including Maths, English, Science, History, Geography, Life Skills, Food Technology, Sport, Forensics, Art and Aboriginal Studies. This role provided for me a great foundation of interpersonal skills and knowledge on how to adjust and modify content to meet the educational needs of a wide variety of individuals with differences of ability.
