Michael has worked in both local government and the private sector and for more than 20 years has dedicated his career to the community development industry. Having developed, implemented and reviewed community development teams, models, strategies and budgets throughout his career, Michael is seen as a leader and innovative thinker throughout the community development industry. Having been the Chairperson of Kolbe Catholic College for 6 years, current President of the Rockingham Football Sporting & Social Club and coach of a Year 11 AFL team, Michael is passionate about both his job and his community. He considers himself very fortunate to work with and be part of his local community and he aims to remain in local government for the long term.
Lead & manage the Community Development Division Contribute to the strategic direction of the City as a member of the Executive Management Team Oversee the development of Specific Purpose strategies that align with the City's Community Plan Lead, mentor and develop the following teams-: Community Capacity Building Community Safety & Support Services Community Infrastructure Planning Library & Information Services Community & Leisure Facilities Oversee the development of accurate annual Team Plans Foster a culture of strategic thinking Monitor the financial performance of the division in line with the City's Business Plan Ensure comprehensive and informed financial analysis for major purchases and projects Monitor, review and facilitate human resource development Mentor and develop managers and coordinators within the CD division Facilitate the annual performance review process and ensure staff embrace safety in the workplace, equal opportunities and respectful behaviour Facilitate effective communication betwenn elected members and the CD division Ensure all operations & functions comply with the Local Government Act 1995 and other relevant statutes and regulations Ensure customer service standards meet the City's Customer Service Charter
