Currently, CRO and Member of the Management Board of Standard Chartered Bank AG, Frankfurt, the new EU hub. Over 35 years of global banking and governance / risk management experience, including 8 years of Credit Risk Management, 10 years in senior client coverage/Country CEO roles, 9 years in COO roles predominantly focused on managing regulatory risks and governance. Michael led the Legal and Compliance, Regulatory Affairs, Public Affairs and Governance platform at Standard Chartered Bank Korea from 2010-2014, during which Michael steered the Bank through a challenging regulatory environment. Michael was the Global Trade COO for Standard Chartered Bank and has now taken on a new role with Standard Chartered Bank Germany to help managing the Brexit project which includes the subsidiarisation of its Branch. Michael has taken on the CRO role in the new entity. Skillsets include: • Thorough understanding and command of credit risk and operational risk disciplines • Total working experience across Asia: 28 years of which 17 years in Korea • Strong interpersonal and intercultural skills (obtained Honorary Citizenship from Seoul City in 2009) • Very engaging personality with with great people leadership skills, always leading by example • Positive attitude at all times, high levels of energy and passion • Solution oriented • Deep experience in dealing with complex regulatory matters and managing regulatory relationships • Great at managing internal and external stakeholders • Strong involvement in external / public affairs through active participation in industry associations and forums, including 4 year chairmanship of Foreign Bankers Group Korea
