Austin, Texas, United States
I have over 12 years experience working within the addiction field in and around the greater Austin area. During those years I worked in a multitude of treatment settings including Intensive Outpatient, Aftercare, and Director of an Alternative Peer Group. I have multiple goals while working with individuals and families through counseling. I assist the chemically dependent individual to become fully abstinent from all mood or mind-altering substances and work with all family members involved or affected by addiction to improve the overall quality of life through identifying the problems at the root of their abuse and working toward a solution for their recovery. I believe it is imperative to work with the families suffering from the drug abuse of a child, spouse or parent. While participating in their own therapeutic process, family members will learn to set healthy boundaries and detach with love. By developing and maintaining their own plan of recovery, the family member indirectly supports the drug abuser into seeking help. Specialties: I specialize in counseling adolescents and their families who suffer from the effects of addiction. I also have experience working with chemically dependent adults in similar treatment settings.
Memorial Hermann PaRC’s Austin office provides treatment to adolescents (13-18) and adults to help build a strong foundation for recovery from drug and alcohol abuse. We know that addiction affects every part of an individual's life, which is why we base our recovery program on a holistic approach that addresses how drugs interact with the body, mind and spiritual aspects of life. Since addiction affects the entire family, PaRC also provides family-centered counseling and education to help individuals support their loved one in treatment.
