Wigan, England, United Kingdom
2019 Graduate with a B.Sc (Hons) in Sports Event Management. I have now commenced my second full time role with Bolton Wanderers at the Toughsheet Community Stadium. Really keen to continue my development utilising the academic skills I acquired during my degree course, the practical skills I acquired during my internship at the England & Wales Cricket Board & my 3 fantastic years at Lancashire Cricket.
I was responsible for managing the overall project of staging 2 x nights of P!nk Concerts at the University of Bolton Stadium from a BWFC perspective. My role included liaison between BWFC and the promoters (Marshall Arts) as well as all the major stakeholders involved in the event (Bolton Council, Emergency Services etc.). This involved setting up SAG meetings and sub-group meetings (E.g. Medical Advisory Group, Traffic Management Group etc.) on a frequent basis to effectively manage the progress of each key area in the build up to event days. I also ensured frequent internal meetings with the relevant key members of staff to ensure everything we as a Club were responsible for was also progressing as it should be.
I am so proud to have first been made an ambassador and then Head of Events for this amazing charity that carries the name of my friend. I play an active role in the planning and management of two annual fundraising days by both serving on the organising committee and by being very hands-on when the events take place in terms of set up, on the day logistics and event breakdown. I more recently became involved with managing the volunteer workforce for another high profile event that DRF are supporting which is the East London Cabbies Outing 2018 (www.eastlondoncabbiesouting.co.uk). This day provides almost 200 disabled and disadvantaged East London children with an event packed day out in Maldon, Essex. David Randall Foundation is a registered charity that was conceived by members of Maldon Cricket Club in February 2012 when David Randall (aged 27), a member of the club since the age of 6, was diagnosed as having terminal cancer. The charity has two main objectives - To support people who demonstrate exceptional dedication and passion in pursuing their ambitions in sport or music but may be held back by their financial situation. To support people with life limiting illnesses for whom extra support would give opportunities to enjoy life to the full for as long as possible. The Patron of the charity is former Maldon CC player, Sir Alastair Cook.
Following a restructure, I was fortunate enough to secure this post within the Health, Safety & Security team. This role allowed me to develop a new set of skills and take a slightly different step in my career which I now look to progress further with.
I will be graduating from Leeds Beckett University in July 2019 and have secured my first full time appointment. Am hugely excited to have joined Lancashire County Cricket Club. My education and journey continues in a fabulous environment.
To supplement income and gain further industry experience during my studies, I was delighted to have been invited to join the Customer Experience Team at Leeds Rugby. This role afforded me experience in Ticketing and Retail. I am grateful for the opportunity and was lucky to work with both friendly and professional staff.
Part time work around studies as a safety and hospitality steward ensuring an immersive experience for visitors to various Sporting Events at venues including:- Leeds United FC and Emerald Headingley (Leeds Rhinos). Thoroughly enjoyable time and great fun alongside my studies.
