I believe that you shouldn’t have to decide between work and family... that being said, I am a father first before anything else. Since I graduated in 2006 I have worked in and around the automotive and commercial vehicle repair field. Under many different titles but otherwise the same school. Customer Service, fix it right the first time and customers will stay with you not because you do the job, but because you do the job plus some. Now that’s not to say give away the farm but the difference is in the attention to detail; Customer comes in for ANY minor repair, check lights, wipers, top off all fluids, the little forgotten comfort stuff. If it’s for commercial vehicles, grease the fifth wheel, change gladhand seals, check cab air filters, It’s easy and anyone that works as I do in these fields should do these things second nature. Being a mechanic, whether it be diesel, gasoline, small engine or commercial grade. It’s a dirty job, no ways around it. I firmly believe that it is extremely difficult to be efficient repairing anything if your fighting your own disorganization on top of doing a detail oriented repair. On top of making sure a work area is kept is some semblance of order is making sure that after your repair is done don’t release the vehicle back to the customer with greasy little finger prints all over the hood, bumper etc. completely unprofessional and even if you do everything I’ve said earlier about the little comfort things right! it all can be completely nulled by oily fingerprints... I would never claim to be a perfect person or a perfect mechanic because I’m not but I do strive to do as much as I can to get as close as I can to making someone else’s life a lot easier and I just hope that someone I relied on would do the same for me. Thanks,
