VASP / Optus 3G BTS Network / Transmission Upgrade - deployment of Optus new 3G BTS Sites including TX upgrades within Qld & Nth NSW.. Major Responsibilities: • Analysis and field site deployment to rectify NMS (Network Mangement System) associated with newly upgraded Microwave Radio links. Due to complexity of Voda’s NMS Network which communicates with a variety of Vendor provided Mircowave Links, Ericsson was responsible to reconfigure all NMS for old and new radio links. This involved implementation of a several solutions and associated cabling and hardware. Role required pre desktop analysis of specific faults followed by field deployment into effected Tx Chains to implement any cabling / hardware / software changes required to resolve fault. • RAN GSM modernisation warranty hardware replacement program. Task involved identification of a faulty batch of GSM 2216 DXU Hardware. A number of GSM BTS sites that had been modernised during the WCDMA 3G upgrade program had developed a fault condition that caused the Base to go into standalone mode once remote BSC switch software configuration upgrade was attempted. Ericsson produced a MOP that basically involved swapping out the DXU unit onsite once BSC switch staff had blocked site traffic. Attended approx 50 sites in SEQ / Nth NSW to upgrade DXU hardware.
