The Heat Exchanger Design Engineer conducts and/or leads the design of multiple heat exchangers across the Rolls-Royce SMR power station, using the best available knowledge and technology to trade and meet highly challenging and complex requirements. Accountable for delivering heat exchanger conceptual designs to time, cost and quality and developing and working with the supply chain to deliver detailed design and manufacture as the Intelligent Customer. Working in a team of 5 engineers, in addition to coordinating cross-functional work as part of the broader Integrated Project Team.
The need to be a competent and qualified engineer with the ability to discuss, at all levels internally and externally, the types and functions of all STT products and services. Preparation of written offers, including technical and commercial terms, which meet all requirements of the customer specification and/or offer attractive alternatives. The offers will be commercially attractive to the client and profitable in the event of an order. Generating offers efficiently and accurately within the timescales laid out in the company procedures and according to customer expectations. Preparing and chairing the hand-over from any resulting orders. Developing new suppliers in collaboration with the purchasing team to improve the profitability of orders and hit rate. Working within a team and from time to time and supporting colleagues, particularly during holiday and periods of illness.
Responsibility for assigned engineering projects. Delivery of assigned works within defined parameters for safety, specification, cost and timescale, within the provision of technical support. Assisting the Engineering Coordinator for projects in the design, engineering, procurement, supervision and administration of capital expenditure programmes. Develop work scope, preliminary design and budget cost estimates from client enquiries in conjunction with engineering, commercial and operations personnel. Responsible for the procurement of materials, equipment and services up to set budget values. Supervising contractors to ensure compliance with project definition.
Safety. Manage collection & collation of plant performance data on a daily basis to support monthly accounting figures. Planning; Translate implications of company strategy into technical solutions Contribute to the on-going compliance with, and continual improvement of OHSAS 45001 Translate implications of company strategy into technical solutions. Provide technical guidance on selection of new equipment and assess, install & calibrate process monitoring equipment. Test out new ideas & techniques in the laboratory or on the plant Use technical skills & knowledge to develop new solutions to existing problems & future requirements. To participate in research and development projects from conception to implementation with liaison from ICL R&D.
