I am a math tutor with over 15 years of experience in teaching and supporting students from various backgrounds and levels of proficiency. I have a master's degree in mathematics and a bachelor's degree in cartography and geographic information systems. I also hold LinkedIn certifications in Microsoft Azure, SharePoint, and Windows Server technologies. My mission is to help students overcome their mathematical challenges and achieve excellence in their academic and professional pursuits. I also enjoy introducing students to programming and Linux through engaging projects. Additionally, I am a devoted student of technology and an advocate for the adoption and advancement of free software. I have a keen interest in systems programming and automotive computing. I am proficient in Android, Windows, and GNU + Linux systems.
I began my work with NAGLY by hosting a math club for our youth, where I'd bring an interesting theorem of the day to discuss each session. I'd also help students with their latest mathematical hurdles, finding suitable practice material to work through together. Currently, I run our Dungeons & Dragons group, and provide private math tutoring time tailored to our youths' needs.
As part of the VITA program hosted at Beverly Bootstraps, I trained each January to become a certified volunteer tax preparer at the advanced level. Since then, I've helped our clients meet their tax filing requirements and receive the tax credits they're entitled to using the IRS-provided software TaxSlayer. As a team, we saved our local community over $1,000,000 dollars for the 2024 tax year.
As part of the BAGLY team, I helped students with their math studies, including their daily homework, and studying for their upcoming quizzes and tests. For the summer, I also had the pleasure of introducing some students to Python programming and Linux through projects with the RaspberryPi 400.
I taught math to K-12 students up to the Calculus II level, with an emphasis on developing intuition and foundational skills using our Mathnasium curriculum. Also, I've helped facilitate the annual Tri-Mathlon competitive event, and trained students preparing for standardized tests such as the SAT.
I instructed small group and one-on-one tutoring for students from basic algebra through graduate-level material, including statistics, linear algebra, physics, business courses, economics, and proof writing. I assisted students with printing, office, statistical and other mathematical computing software as needed, and processed & presented data to anticipate future student and department needs.
