I am a seasoned HR Leader who takes value in combining my technical HR and people skills while also being a true business minded professional — knowing the ins-and-outs of a P&L statement, learning about sales/marketing, understanding all of the various business aspects of my organization and it's impacts and effects on stakeholders etc. I have obtained both my Honours & Masters Degrees in HR Management, and am also a Certified Human Resources Leader (CHRL) and Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP). I am currently in the pursuit of obtaining my final designation as Human Resources Executive (CHRE) via the HRPA. I am highly committed to delivering day-to-day HR objectives and special projects on time and within budget. I have an in-depth background in the key dimensions of compensation & benefits, labour relations, recruitment & retention, succession planning, performance management and learning & development to name a few. I lead the Benefits & Compensation team within the HR Department where I provide specialist expertise and oversee the daily operation of key programs, including: compensation, benefits, pension and the human resource information systems (HRIS), as well as oversee the job evaluation maintenance programs for all employee groups, leading job evaluation projects as required and working directly with third party consultants. I am also responsible for also conducting salary administration surveys, considering the market competitiveness and the City’s ability to attract and retain great talent. I also oversee the completion of market salary surveys and complete requests for salary information.
Led the HR Department and was responsible for providing managerial support to school & central administrative leadership, as well as front line supervisors in a full range of Human Resources functions, including Labour Relations (grievances, arbitrations, labour management meetings etc.), Employee Relations (Investigations, Performance Management etc.), Compensation (Salary, Pay Equity, Job Evaluations, Bill 124 retroactive payments etc.), Benefits & Pension, Health & Safety and Abilities Management.
Led the Compensation team in maintaining the integrity of the Boards compensation and job evaluation programs, processes, plans and procedures, while providing guidance and support on the development of new positions, maintenance review requests, salary administration, organizational restructuring and pay equity challenges. Was responsible for also leading fact-gathering interviews and for chairing several union and non-union joint job evaluation committees, preparing recommendations to the Executive Assessment Committee related to pay levels, position titles, salary grids, potential risks and related impacts. Sat as a member on the following committees: - Co-Chair of multiple Job Evaluation Committees (ASG, CUPE, OPSEU)
- Was responsible for the overall administration of the Service’s job descriptions, job ratings and job evaluation plans. Developed and recommended policies and procedures related to job evaluation and/or Pay Equity. - Developed and managed the performance management systems for the organization. Ensured alignment of competencies and behaviours to the organizational values and position levels, while collaborating with various stakeholders, engaging key partners and researching best practice. - Was a Project Lead for culture related initiatives such as employee engagement surveys and key corporate implementations (i.e. Diversity & Inclusion Strategy, Legislated Training's etc.), and other change management focused projects. - Prepared and participated in grievances and other labour relation issues by preparing documentation related to grievances, hearings and arbitration's. - Consulted with senior management and key stakeholders to create and measure the effectiveness of the organizational development strategy. - Developed succession planning tools for Departments to understand their workforce demographics and strategies to address key resource issues and future skills gap. As well as championed the creation and continuous improvement of an integrated leadership development program. - Oversaw the administration of the Learning Management System (LMS). This included vendor relationship management, accuracy of night employee uploads, access security, system rules management, testing of new releases of the software and troubleshooting for staff. -Coordinated the development, implementation, facilitation and evaluation of training programs.
