Mike is a an experienced Environmental & MEP Engineering Director with a proven track record of leading world class teams to create ground-breaking projects. Strong engineering professional, skilled in leadership, feasibility studies, concept, detailed design & construction, with the highest sustainability credentials, wide ranging project experience from master planning, to new build, retrofit and decarbonisation, across heritage, secure, mission critical, mixed-use, offices, science, hotels, residential, arts, education & culture. Mike previously a Director at AECOM, Faber Maunsell and Oscar Faber, has board level experience, responsibilities included strategy, growth, clients and innovation. Mike has also led large multidisciplinary teams; responsibilities include recruitment, strategy, work winning, project delivery, staff retention/development and profitability. Mike served on the board of the BCO, and is a past chair of the national Judges. Mike is a Trustee and current President Elect of CIBSE, and advisor to 3 universities. Mike is a Chartered Engineer, Fellow of CIBSE and an Honorary Fellow of RIBA. An Honorary Professor at University of Nottingham and a visiting Professor at the University of Leeds.
The Committee’s role is to provide strategic advice and to seek ways to help and improve the performance and reputation of the School, to guide us on external and internal future trends and influences, and offer a critical review of the School’s performance. As such we highly value the input that our industrial members can bring in guiding the future direction of the School.
Honorary Visiting Professor in the School of Civil Engineering, Faculty of Engineering and Physical Sciences focussing on Architectural Engineering, Sustainability, and environmental engineering. Working in collaboration with the University to support lecturers and students. Tasks include Lectures, presentations, project reviews, career advice, etc.
The Advisory Council brings together a diverse mix of expertise and fresh perspectives from across the BCO. Its role is to explore key themes, ideas, and future projects, offering advice to the Management Executive. Reflecting the BCO’s broad membership, it includes the Management Executive, Regional and Expert Committee representatives, Awards judging panel chairs, and a balanced group of NextGen members from across the regions.

The Forum meets twice a year, March and September, via Zoom. The meetings are attended by industry professionals and academics, to facilitate dialogue between academics and key industry stakeholder representatives from the land, property and construction sectors. The purpose is to reflect on developments in contemporary professional practice and to consider their impact on learning provision, to inform curricula and module enhancement and aid in the planning of future provision. In detail, the terms of reference for the forum are: • To advise on the evolving knowledge and skills for professionals in the sector, with regard to the aims of each academic programme as a whole, the level of the subject and the available time in the programme. • To provide market and industry commentary that informs the annual programme review of programmes and the relevant Programme Committee Meetings. • To discuss appropriate learning pertaining to the various subject areas comprised within programmes, and to make recommendations and suggestions for content enhancement to be included on the Quality Enhancement Action Plans, where appropriate. • Provide commentary on programme change proposals to inform business cases and the validation/revalidation process.
