I am currently studying BA International Development full time at King's College London. I am passionate about the interdisciplinary effects associated with climate induced hazards, particularly in regards to human rights violations from an international law perspective. Upon finishing my degree I aspire to work in the United Nations, specialising in international law and human rights, from a peace keeping perspective. My knowledge of the field is growing significantly during my studies, widening my understanding of how influential the ever changing climate is in our modern society. In the future I hope to contribute to helping others and aspire to making a meaningful impact in the field with the skills and knowledge I have, and will continue to, obtain throughout my studies.
For two months I worked as a Textiles teacher and bunk councillor at Camp Lindenmere in Pennsylvania. Throughout the summer I taught children from ages 6 to 15 how to create fashion drawings and designs, use a sewing machine, both hand embroider and machine embroider, and at the end of both sessions create a garment that the child would wear in the visiting day fashion show. I also worked as a bunk councillor where I looked after a group of 14 and 15 year old girls, along with two other councillors, and was responsible on trip days where we visited a range of activity parks.
During this period I worked as a part time Christmas employee for Marks and Spencers Home and Clothing. I learnt to serve customers on the tills along with handling money and processing returns whilst following all licensing and purchasing laws. I was also in charge of distributing deliveries, stocking shelves and cleaning the store.
