Kia Ora, My name is Mia Edwards; I am a fourth -year Bachelor of Commerce and Arts conjoint student at the University of Auckland. My majors are Economics, International Business, Philosophy, and Politics and International Relations. I have a diverse background of roles, including customer service, sports and sales, from a crew member at Burger King to a swim instructor to selling Christmas trees as a small business from my home. Through these roles, I have developed strong communication and problem-solving skills, which have helped to shape me into the well-rounded person I am today. Through my education at the University of Auckland, I have gained many valuable skills. These include, the ability to work remotely with conferencing platforms such as, Zoom and Spatial.io which I have become very confident using. I have also gained experience using generative AI such as, Chat GPT for a range of different purposes. I am interested in a career in public policy or international relations as I want to make a meaningful impact in people's lives. As I develop my career, I aim to take on as many leadership opportunities as I can, eventually becoming part of a management team where I can contribute to decision-making and long-term success. Outside of my academic pursuits, I am actively involved in extracurricular activities, particularly sports and outdoor adventures like scuba diving, fishing, tramping, hunting, outdoor sport climbing, bouldering, mountaineering and skiing, which reflect my adventurous spirit. I was previously the Secretary and am now the Socials officer for Auckland University Tramping Club, where I hold a vast role consisting of organising many social trips and events throughout the year. I also have a passion for animals and love a good book. I am continuously seeking opportunities to grow and develop new skills. I look forward to connecting with like-minded professionals and exploring future opportunities. Please feel free to connect if you share similar interests or would like to collaborate.
This role is very active where I am in the pool with the children and constantly assisting each child with the skills being taught. I write my own lesson plans for the session and manage time to make sure that each skill has the time needed to be taught effectively to the students.
