Dr. Umoh is an Assistant Professor at Johns Hopkins University in the Division of Geriatric Medicine and Gerontology. Her research focuses on improving cognitive outcomes for older adults by examining biological and social factors that contribute to cognitive decline. She is interested in improving our understanding of the overlap between delirium and dementia, and other intervenable risk factors for dementia. Her current projects aim to leverage epidemiological and clinical data to inform clinical care by examining modifiable risk factors for dementia. Dr. Umoh is board certified in Internal Medicine and Geriatric Medicine. She completed her Internal Medicine residency at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center and her Geriatric Medicine fellowship at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. She cares for patients and families at the Johns Hopkins Memory and Alzheimer's Treatment Center and in the hospital. Dr. Umoh earned her MD and PhD in Neuroscience from Emory University. She also holds a bachelor's degree in Bioengineering from the University of Pennsylvania.
The Certificate Program in Translational Research is multidisciplinary program of the Emory Laney Graduate School for PhD students, Emory postdocs and faculty members who seek to conduct research at the interface between basic science and clinical medicine. The goal of this program is to enhance and transform translational research training.
