She loves to write essays, curate exhibitions, moderate debates and give lectures, and also fancies to pioneer new projects. As a leader, she is inspirational, strategic and adventurous, as well as results-oriented, transparent and reliable. Meta has her own business at the intersection of culture, science and society. As an art historian and former director of Museum De Lakenhal in Leiden, she generates change in the museum sector, and beyond. Her focus is on contemporary art, museums, arts & science and anything interdisciplinary or out-of-the-box. As a former director of Leiden European City of Science 2022 - a pilot project of the European Commission which pioneered the Science Comes to Town call @HorizonEurope - she is engaged in exploring new models for Public Engagement with Science, aimed at connecting science with society. As one of the founders of the Ministry of the Future, she is keen on implementing innovative, bottom-up methodologies for future design. Within these future-oriented strategies, Meta pursues deep connections between the past and the present. Being aware of the world we share, in both her work and personal life she is committed to nature preservation and intergenerational justice. With her family, she lives on a farm near Leiden, where they keep a cattle of Lakenvelder-cows (Dutch living heritage) and maintain 36 acres of agri-ecological land.

Ze is actief als auteur, spreker, dagvoorzitter, gastconservator en inhoudelijk-strategisch adviseur, steevast met het oog gericht op een duurzame toekomst. Als kunsthistorica is ze gespecialiseerd in moderne en hedendaagse kunst en mengt ze zich graag in debatten over museale vernieuwing. Als directeur van Museum De Lakenhal was ze verantwoordelijk voor de vernieuwing en alom geprezen restauratie en uitbreiding van het Leidse museum (2019). Als directeur van Leiden European City of Science 2022, één van de tien excellente projecten van het wetenschappelijke HorizonEurope programma, gaf ze richting aan een nieuw, bottom-up model voor Public Engagement with Science. Als mede-oprichter van het Ministerie van de Toekomst, een landelijke beweging van tijdrebellen en kathedraaldenkers, richt ze zich op nieuwe, toekomstgerichte vormen van civic design. Design Academy Eindhoven (DAE) is one of the world’s leading design schools, recognised internationally for its forward-thinking and renowned professors and alumni. For over 70 years it has trained aspiring designers to make their mark on the future by thinking freely and openly about what design can achieve, consistently exploring design as an instrument of material, social, environmental and critical innovation. DAE is a University of the Arts, offering both BA and MA degrees, specialised in training students in different design perspectives in order to produce critical and socially engaged designers. In conjunction with the educational programmes, DAE has international research Professorships focused on collaborative research projects. The commonality at DAE is the shared political values of an inclusive society that embraces diversity in every aspect. In addition, the hybrid, conceptual, contextual and international approach to design makes DAE’s programmes distinctive.
De NWA-programmacommissie adviseert het bestuur van NWO over de opzet, uitvoering en ontwikkeling van de Nationale Wetenschapsagenda (NWA). Zij beoordeelt programmaontwikkelingen, de keuze van thema's en bewaakt de aansluiting van onderzoeksprojecten op de maatschappelijke doelstellingen van de NWA.
De VSC is de vereniging van wetenschapsmusea en science centers en telt meer dan 50 leden, ondersteund door een breed netwerk van professionals. Als aanspreekpunt voor de sector brengen we organisaties samen, stimuleren we samenwerking en versterken we de impact van wetenschapscommunicatie. De VSC wordt gedragen door een klein, professioneel bureau, een betrokken bestuur en actieve leden. De VSC vertegenwoordigt Nederlandse wetenschapsmusea, science centers en andere organisaties die wetenschap, natuur en technologie tot leven brengen. We behartigen hun belangen, stimuleren samenwerking en faciliteren kennisdeling. Dat doen we niet alleen. We werken actief samen met nationale en internationale netwerken die het belang van wetenschap en publiek centraal stellen. Wij geloven in de kracht van verwondering en nieuwsgierigheid. Samen met onze leden maken we wetenschap, natuur en technologie toegankelijk voor iedereen. Met interactieve ervaringen en educatieve programma’s prikkelen we de verwondering en helpen we jong en oud antwoorden te vinden op kleine en grote vragen. Zo dragen we bij aan een samenleving waarin wetenschap, natuur en technologie een vanzelfsprekende plek innemen.
