Biology has been my driving passion for as long as I can remember - even as a child. Indeed, my keen interest in biology stayed with me as I grew, and led me to undertake a four-year undergraduate degree in Microbiology at King Abdulaziz University, Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. .. ~ I volunteered and worked in various laboratories before deciding to pursue a Master's degree, which is what brought me to North America in 2009 .. *volunteer work @ King Abdulaziz University Hospital, Jeddah, Saudi Arabia ~ two-months "laboratory Secretary" ~ six-months "phlebotomy" ~ while working in the laboratory, I was given the opportunity to work with the chairman of the Heamatology Department, Dr.Qari , as a member of the organizing committee for the first international Heamatology Oncology Symposium in 2006. *work experience @ King Faisal Specialist Hospital from Jan 2008 to Feb2009 ~ I improved my hands-on skills by collecting and processing specimens from inpatient and outpatient departments. *In 2010,I enrolled in the MedicalLaboratory technician Diploma program at Everest College, Toronto, Canada ~~ as a part of the graduation requirement, I completed a 150- hour @ Sunny Brock Hospital, Toronto where I worked in a range of laboratories servicing different departments. ~~ Gained certification from the Ontario Society of Medical Technologists as a Medical Laboratory Technician OSMT *In 2011, I started my Master's degree @ Queens University , Kingston, Canada in Biomedical Science ~~ spent six-months working in Dr.Martin's laboratory assisting her with her Salmonella pathogeneses research Due to few unforeseen circumstances, I voluntarily withdrew from the program In sum, as my education has progressed and my life experience have molded me into a hardworking and determined person, my resolve to forge a career in the healthcare system has become stronger. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~

•Collected blood specimens from in-patient and outpatient departments using different techniques such as vein puncture, heel puncture, blood culture, and blood gas •Processed the samples in the processing area of other laboratory’s departments as whole blood or serum •Prepared the samples using dry ice for shipment •Worked in laboratory reception managing patient registration and test orders.
