About

I am Mellinda Gracia Wirrandyhatma, a Year 1 undergraduate in Biological Sciences at Nanyang Technological University, with a strong foundation in molecular and cellular biology, biochemistry, physiology, and Python, complemented by laboratory experience. My interest in biological science was shaped by early exposure to healthcare through accompanying my mother during her clinical work. Through this experience, I observed the realities faced by cancer and geriatric patients, including the challenges in treatment and long-term care. These moments sparked my curiosity about disease at a molecular level and motivated me to explore how scientific research can contribute to more effective and accessible healthcare solutions. Growing up in a small city has taught me to be resourceful, adaptable, and self-driven. I see it not as a limitation, but as a foundation that strengthened my curiosity, resilience, and commitment to continuous learning. Beyond academics, I actively develop my ability to collaborate and contribute in team-based environments. As a member of NTU Red Cross Youth, I engage in community volunteering, including visits to elderly care homes, while gaining exposure to first aid and basic emergency response. I am also involved in committee work with the SBS Club and the BioHack subcommittee, where I collaborate with peers to plan and execute events. I am particularly interested in bridging biological research with real-world healthcare impact, with a focus on improving outcomes for patients with complex conditions such as cancer. I am continuously seeking opportunities to learn, contribute, and grow in environments that challenge me both intellectually and personally.
