As an emerging HR professional with a experience in recruitment and training, I bring a proactive, approach to recruitment and human resources. With academic training in HR management and experience supporting full-cycle recruitment processes, I’m committed to helping organizations attract, and assess, and top talent. I’m particularly passionate about creating a positive candidate experience, supporting inclusive hiring practices, and continuously learning the evolving trends in workforce planning and talent strategy.
I assist with the recruitment process for Mainstream and their partnering agency: Gateway. I support the Human Resources Team with coordinating training for our staff. I support Mainstream and Gateway with onboarding post-secondary students for their placements and volunteers.
I completed an Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) report and ensured that Gateway is compliant with this legislation. I am proud of the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion project I started at this organization. I developed policies, statements, and useful guides to support Gateway in becoming a more diverse, equitable, and inclusive agency. I coordinated DEI training for the staff at Gateway and at Mainstream by reaching out to agencies in the Niagara Region for this. I supported Gateway with creating an all-gender washroom and acquiring pronoun pins to give staff the option to display their pronouns. I assisted the Privacy Officer with making privacy information more engaging for the staff at Gateway. Created a monthly quiz, an infographic, and privacy bookmarks.
I am proud of my contributions to a major project that this organization undertook. With assistance from key stakeholders, I was able to create job descriptions for various roles. It was important that these job descriptions were completed in a timely manner since they were going to be used to hire a lot of people for a project. A big task that I accomplished was assisting HR and the Project Coordinator with preparing the orientation and training for the new hires. This task took a bit of time as I had to collaborate with people who would be conducting the required trainings, to gather information and schedule a time for them.
At Gateway I was given the task to research and create a report on what Gateway's partnering agencies do for onboarding new employees. This report was needed to assess what each agency is doing, what improvements need to be made, and what should be changed throughout all of the agencies' onboarding processes to have a consistent onboarding experience for new employees. I was able to inventory and create a tracking system for the items at one of Gateway's programs. There were many items that had to be inventoried, and I also had to sort and reorganize a few items. Once I was done inventorying, I created a tracking system so that the key stakeholders of the program would be able to easily update and keep track of their inventory.
I provided quality customer service by efficiently processing transactions, effectively communicating with customers, and having a positive attitude. I also worked with my co-workers to keep the front-end organized, and to stay up to date on information about the merchandise.
