- Manage corporate tax and indirect tax matters for the Asia Pacific region (China, India, Japan, Taiwan, and Malaysia). - Lead the Country tax team and partner with business units in projects involving business model changes and new market entry. - Provide tax advice on various projects/topics including business transformation, new market entry, financing / cash repatriation strategies, setting up of new company and permanent establishment. - Collaborate with multiple stakeholders on tax incentive application and negotiating with the relevant government agency to successfully obtain tax incentives in Malaysia. - Review of current and deferred tax reporting packages.
- Manage corporate tax, indirect tax, transfer pricing and M&A matters for the Asia Pacific region (China, India, Japan, Korea, Australia, Singapore, Malaysia, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Indonesia). - Extensively involved in many M&A and post-acquisition restructuring projects for the Asia Pacific region. This includes performing due diligence, advising on the transaction structure(s) and tax implications, reviewing agreements and valuation reports, and applying for reduced withholding tax rate. - Support business by providing tax advice on various projects/topics including business transformation, new market entry, financing / cash repatriation strategies, permanent establishment, withholding tax, foreign tax credit, tax deductibility, implementation of VAT/GST rate changes in India, China, Malaysia and Japan etc. - Collaborate with multiple stakeholders on tax incentive application and negotiating with the relevant government agency to successfully obtain tax incentives in Malaysia and China. - Filing of three unilateral Advance Pricing Agreement in India. - Review contracts and advising on the transaction structure, tax implications and tax clauses. - Lead and manage corporate tax, transfer pricing, withholding tax and indirect tax audits, with successful results. - Tax accounting and tax return compliances: review direct and indirect tax returns, current and deferred tax provision, tax reserves provision, and analysis of effective tax rate. - Transfer pricing compliances: Review transfer pricing studies, transfer pricing calculations, intercompany agreements and advising on intercompany transactions. - Other compliances: Partner with local teams to ensure withholding tax, tax return filing compliances. - Proactively monitor and provide timely updates on changes in tax regulations that impact the Group and work with the relevant stakeholders to address and manage the tax impact.
- Manage all corporate tax, transfer pricing, customs, indirect tax and expatriates personal tax matters in the region (China, India, Japan, Korea, Singapore, Australia, Hong Kong, Indonesia and Philippines). - Worked closely with Worldwide Transfer Pricing Director and local Finance Director on the setting of transfer prices for the Asian entities, review of actual results and propose transfer pricing adjustments to the team. - Review of annual transfer pricing documentation and inter-company agreements. - Manage tax audits / tax litigations in the APAC region. - Manage the corporate income tax compliances for the Asian entities through working with external tax advisors to ensure that all income tax returns are filed timely and correctly for the APAC entities (China, India, Japan, Korea, Singapore, Australia, Hong Kong, Indonesia and Philippines). - Oversee the full spectrum of tax accounting for all legal entities in APAC. This includes the review of both current and deferred tax packages and tax reserves and analysis of the effective tax rate. - Support the corporate consolidated tax accounting processes under FAS 109 and FIN 48. - Provide timely updates on changes in tax regulations that impact the Group and partner with the relevant stakeholders to address the tax implications.
- Support the Group in tax incentives, including liaising with EDB and other government agencies for tax incentives and monitoring compliance with the conditions of the tax incentives. - Determine and monitor the transfer prices between the Group entities. This includes obtaining forecasts from FP&A team and determining the transfer prices, regular review of actual results and making adjustments to the transfer prices during and at the end of the year. - Review of Transfer Pricing documentation for all the Group entities. - Review of direct and indirect tax returns for all the Group entities. - Prepare current and deferred tax calculations for financial reporting and IFRS compliance. - Provide updates on changes in tax regulations that have an impact to the Group. - Forecast tax payable for annual budgets and forecast. - Assessing and reviewing the tax impact of new business investments and projects.
- Actively involved in the preparation and review of Singapore income tax computations and tax returns for a diversified portfolio of clientele (including companies with tax incentives such as Investment Allowances, Development and Expansion Incentive, Operational Headquarters etc). - Attending to tax queries raised by IRAS, clients and auditors. - Writing in on behalf of clients and successfully obtaining the desired tax ruling from IRAS. - Prepare / review current tax and deferred tax provisions. - Actively involved in tax due diligence work and ad-hoc projects. - Organizing and conducting internal tax training sessions for tax and audit professionals. - Preparation and review of Malaysia and Brunei tax computations and tax returns.
