Here is my breakdown of the key responsibilities. 1. Verification of Goods (Inbound & Outbound) • Accuracy Checks: Comparing physical items against paperwork (Purchase Orders, Invoices, or Bills of Lading) to ensure the SKU, quantity, and description match perfectly. • Damage Inspection: Visually inspecting packages for signs of damage, leaks, or tampering before they are accepted or shipped. • Quality Control: Checking expiration dates, batch numbers, or serial numbers to ensure products meet company standards. 2. Inventory & Documentation • Record Keeping: Using handheld RF scanners or computer systems to log items into the Warehouse Management System (WMS). • Stock Audits: Participating in "cycle counts" or physical inventory checks to confirm that the system’s numbers match what is actually on the shelves. • Discrepancy Reporting: Immediately notifying warehouse manager if there is a "shortage" (missing items) or "overage" (extra items) in a shipment. 3. Loading & Staging Coordination • Order Validation: Checking picked orders before they are loaded onto trucks to ensure the right customer gets the right products. • Staging: Ensuring goods are placed in the correct "loading lanes" or staging areas to prevent shipping delays. • Labeling: Attaching shipping labels, barcodes, or "fragile" stickers to pallets and boxes. 4. Safety & Compliance • FIFO Enforcement: Ensuring the First-In, First-Out (FIFO) method is followed so that older stock is used or shipped before newer stock. • Safety Standards: Maintaining a clean workspace and following safety protocols for handling heavy machinery (like forklifts or pallet jacks) and hazardous materials.
