I am heading Category team (Home / Toys) for noon Saudi Arabia with the objective to drive growth while developing the marketplace partner ecosystem in the country. Prior to this, I was Director at Agoda, a leading online travel platform and part of Booking Holdings Group. I have close to 20 years of experience in the eCommerce industry, with a proven track record of driving growth, innovation, and customer satisfaction in various markets and segments. Almost all of my experiences have been in online marketplaces, some of them in building start ups, grounds up. In my current role my mission is to make travel easier and more accessible for consumers by offering them the best price, variety, and service. Before joining Agoda, I was a Senior VP - Commercial, Saudi Arabia, at noon, the first $1 billion eCommerce start-up in the Middle East. From being part of the founding team at noon to lead a team of 70+ professionals to manage the commercial landscape of noon.com, optimizing assortment, pricing, availability, and customer experience. I was also responsible for digitizing traditional retail vendors and forging strategic partnerships. Before that, I held various leadership roles at Souq, Craftsvilla, HomeShop18, and eBay, where I gained extensive expertise in setting up Commercial teams in online marketplaces, business operations, account management, devising business strategies from launch to scale, category management, and people management. I am passionate about eCommerce, technology, and scaling start-ups, and I enjoy exploring how technology can solve problems and create value.
Owning Category Business Performance & PnL
Responsible for ME, Turkey and South Africa region with a mission to make travel easier by offering consumers best price, with more variety and seamless customer experience. As Country Director for Supply team for Agoda, MEA (part of Booking Holdings), I am in charge for defining and driving group strategies for the region, providing guidance to leadership on competitive landscape and future game plan for the region. Headquartered in Dubai, role involves spearheading the teams on ground spread across the region with 4 offices in Dubai, Jeddah, Istanbul & Cairo, responsible for growth of local partners & chains to improve business performance, driving performance excellence on key business deliverables. Besides core objective of continuous improvement on supply health of Agoda, growing footprint for the company through key partnerships, working closely with local tourism board to achieve common objectives on driving destination tourism are some of the responsibilities of this role.
Heading Saudi business for noon, tasked with the job of leading the commercial landscape of noon.com. Responsible for 70+ Commercial team members to drive Assortment, Pricing, Availability and offer top class customer experience. Accountable for topline revenue, while improving Category P&L, To continuously improve the seller ecosystem in the country through digitization of traditional retail vendors. Creating a winning work Environment for Saudi office, leading a dynamic team of Account Managers to Category managers and VPs, hiring the best talent & mentoring and grooming were core deliverables of the role. Other responsibilities include formulating category strategy, planning & forecasting, campaign planning, Inventory planning, setting up and monitoring of seller policies and compliance, strategic partnerships & more.
Responsible to set up entire Saudi commercial team from planning to execution of annual business plans, owning the top line and bottom line. From hiring, training, setting up a winning structure to designing selection plans, seller acquisition and development - all in all driving a team who are responsible for core business KPIs like Sales & Margins.
From managing only Marketplace business moved up to lead entire commercial team. Responsibilities included, defining Launch critical suppliers / brands, acquisition strategy, in stock business planning, category profitability, user experience, Commercial Operations and Unit economics plan, Driving Commercial rate card and commission structure. Working with Cross functional teams and aligning on Business requirements on Inventory in stock forecast, orders forecast, Content Production, Marketing plans, Seller Support, After sales, etc were further deliverable. Hiring a champion team to execute all of the above was one the challenging task in day to day at work. Acted as a Lead for Commercial for about 6 months and in March 2017 took over role of Category Director, leading Hardlines plus Electronics & Media as 2 major groups of overall categories at noon.com.
Souq.com (now Amazon) was the first major marketplace In Middle East. I was responsible for Developing and executing strategies to exceed marketplace goals on Sales, Selection and Customer Experience Metrics. Since marketplace was a new function at souq, Hiring, training, and leading a team of Account Managers & Operations Executives was a core deliverable. Additionally, working with cross-functional teams with various members of Souq's operations, technology teams and marketing teams, to achieve business objectives was core part of the role.
