Project manager: The world of Hiroe Swen's ceramic art: Digital Archive

Canberra, Australian Capital Territory, Australia

About

I am currently working as a freelance project manager on a project which creates a digital archive of the ceramic art of Hiroe Swen, a prominent Australian contemporary ceramic artist of Japanese origin who lives in Queanbeyan, NSW. The project is funded by artsACT of the ACT government and is assisted by 19 national and regional galleries holding Hiroe Swen's artworks. We are preparing to launch the project in May 2023. I had a 32-year career as a librarian in Japan and Australia. For 20 years, until my retirement in 2019, I worked as the Chief Librarian of the Japanese Unit, Asian Collections, of the National Library of Australia. I curated the Japanese collection to cater for academic research in broad subjects, led a team of four, and assisted researchers with their research projects. During this period, I worked to initiate, establish and manage the Japan Fellowship and the Japan Study Grants, the two funding within the Library. With the two funding, we managed to assist about 50 scholars in coming to Canberra and conducting academic research.
