Know Maya more here: https://linktr.ee/mayafedeli I hold a PhD in Molecular Medicine with a focus on Immunology, and throughout my academic career, I published several peer-reviewed articles. Over time, I discovered a strong passion for communicating science beyond academic circles, which led me to complete a Master’s degree in Science and Health Communication. Currently, I work in the Research Development area at Vita-Salute San Raffaele University, where I support the promotion of Citizen Science and coordinate communication activities for European research projects. A core part of my role is assisting researchers in the development and implementation of Citizen Science initiatives that align with the field’s theoretical principles. I also contribute to grant writing and communication strategies for these projects, and I lead educational initiatives such as lectures on Citizen Science for PhD students or the coordination of Citizen Science projects for pupils of middle and high schools. Although I transitioned from research into an administrative role, I continue to co-author scientific publications on Citizen Science, reflecting my ongoing commitment to academic collaboration and innovation. I’m actively involved in the European Citizen Science Association (ECSA), where I contribute to three working groups and serve as chair of one. Additionally, I chair the Salute (Health) working group of Citizen Science Italia, working to advance public engagement and participatory approaches in health research. I thrive in dynamic, international environments and have had the opportunity to present my work in English at several international conferences and internal meetings - experiences that have strengthened my public speaking and storytelling skills. I bring energy, curiosity, and strong interpersonal skills to every project, and I enjoy working collaboratively to develop solutions, build connections, and share knowledge. Outside of work, I served as a scientific advisor on vaccines and immunology for a Facebook community of over 24,000 members, helping make accurate, evidence-based information accessible to a broader audience.
