Greater Chicago Area
I worked as an audit intern at the KPMG office in Chicago for the summer. I was a part of the public sector team, helping with various audits including governments and universities. I furthered my knowledge of the audit process and acquired new skills that I will use in my future career.
I was a finance intern for Freeport-McMoRan working mainly remotely out of the New Orleans office. I assembled spreadsheets comprised of commodity pricing and market trends, created and presented presentations on possible future development projects relating to clean energy, and assisted my accounting coworkers with miscellaneous tasks when possible.
I supervised and provided leadership to a team of 6 counselors in conflict resolution and creating a safe and engaging environment for participants in the camp. I provided underprivileged campers ages 8 – 10 with opportunities for cultural education and personal growth by organizing and facilitating field trips throughout the Greater Chicago area.
I contacted small businesses in Iowa and inquired about their business needs during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic and relayed relevant information to SBDC directors for follow-up. I also provided available government resources and potential solutions to keep the businesses operational.
I taught campers to exercise patience and to make compromises by acting as both an instructor and mediator. I also promoted inclusion and integrity by organizing games and activities during bus rides, between planned events, and during other periods of otherwise unused time.
Working as an Umpire through the Palatine Park District, I used my knowledge of the rules to make tough decisions, kept the games safe and fun, and managed challenging situations involving coaches, players, and parents.
