The Randstad, Netherlands
Hi there, I’m Max Scholtes. I grew up in the Netherlands and moved to France at age 12, where I completed a Bachelor’s degree in Applied Languages at the University of Toulouse - Le Mirail, including a study year abroad at the University of Portsmouth. My academic background: International Trade, Business, and Foreign Languages. My interest in Chinese culture led me to continue my Mandarin studies in Shanghai. My career has evolved towards what has now become my primary mission: developing hemp building at an international level. After gaining valuable experience across international account management and strategic business development. I trained as a certified hemp builder in France at L’École Nationale du Chanvre (ENC) under master builder Rémy Chorda. This marked the beginning of my involvement in advancing hemp construction worldwide. We organised a hands-on building course for architects and builders in Sweden and hosted a group of South African builders at our school in 2021. I work closely with the ENC to expand training, certification, and professional standards globally. With more than 25+ years of collective French expertise, my focus is helping builders, architects, and organisations worldwide integrate hemp into their projects through structured training programs, international partnerships, and knowledge transfer. In 2023, I joined Hempflax Building Solutions (HFBS) as their Business Development Manager for Belgium and France, further strengthening my commitment to accelerating the global adoption of bio-based construction materials. I have played an active role in the International Hemp Building Association, representing ENC at the 10th Symposium in France, representing HempFlax at the 11th Symposium in the Netherlands, engaging directly with speakers and participants at the 12th Symposium in Sweden, and supporting Steve Allin on-site at the 13th Symposium in Minnesota at the Lower Sioux Reservation. I am fluent in Dutch, French, and English, with intermediate Spanish and Mandarin. If you’d like to collaborate, organise training, or discuss hemp building opportunities internationally, feel free to reach out on Linkedin by email : [email protected] Have a great day!
The National Hemp Building School - L'Ecole Nationale du Chanvre (ENC) develops hands-on training programs that transfer the expertise and craftsmanship of experienced builders to professionals worldwide. In 2020, ENC collaborated to deliver training for architects and builders in Sweden, and in 2021 we extended our international reach by training builders from South Africa.
