I help multinational companies hire, manage, and part with people across the Mexico–Germany–EU corridor without getting blindsided by labor law. That sentence covers a lot of ground, so here’s what it means in practice. I’m a labor and employment lawyer admitted in both Germany (RAK Berlin) and Mexico — a combination rare enough that companies expanding in either direction usually can’t find one person who genuinely speaks both legal systems. I do, in three languages, after 15+ years practising on both sides of the Atlantic and a PhD in law from UNAM. I work with the teams who feel cross-border labor risk first: HR and in-house legal at multinationals, European companies running Mexican operations (and vice versa), and M&A; deal teams who discover that the labor side of a transaction is where deals quietly gain — or lose — value. I’ve advised a major German automaker and IKEA on entering the Mexican market, handled the labor aspects of one of Germany’s largest AI acquisitions, and structured the employment side of an aviation-security group taking over operations at 16 Mexican airports. What clients tend to value: I don’t just translate the law, I translate the business culture around it — and I’ve done it as honorary legal advisor to the UK Embassy in Mexico and counsel to the German and Austrian missions. These days a lot of my work sits at the frontier: the EU AI Act and its impact on hiring, AI bias rules for employers, employee-monitoring limits in Germany, and Mexico’s 40-hour-workweek reform. It’s a fast-moving space where very few lawyers are both fluent and bilingual — which is exactly why I write about it. Off the clock I’m happiest connecting the two worlds I live between, whether through the German-Mexican jurist and business associations I serve on or over a very long dinner. Feel free to connect if you’re navigating labor law across Mexico, Germany, or the EU — or if your company is planning a move in either direction and wants to get the people side right the first time.
