Experienced Founder, Director, Curator and Art Advisor. Holds a master of fine arts degree. 17+ years as a Founder of VOICES, curating, exhibiting, advising and amplifying the works of under-represented artists, filmmakers, and creative talent internationally.
THE VOICE OF A WOMAN (VOW) founded in 2009 by Maureen A. Bryan has produced a yearly festival featuring the works of established and emerging filmmakers, artists, writers, humanitarians, activists and thought leaders, along with mentoring and training programs for young women. In 2011 THE VOICE OF A WOMAN FESTIVAL (VOW FEST) was first launched and has been featured internationally at such venues as: Cannes Palais des Festivals; Cinema des Arcades - Cannes; Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) - New York; Institute of Contemporary Art (ICA) - London; Paley Center for Media - New York; Curzon Soho - London, The National Portrait Gallery - London; Spring Studios - New York, and other venues. Among the artists who have participated in VOICES IN ART | THE VOICE OF A WOMAN FESTIVAL | VOW FEST featuring such artists as: Garrett Bradley, Elizabeth Colomba, Naomie Harris, Grace Jones, Deeyah Khan, Kim Longinotto, Nina Menkes, Shirin Neshat, Thandie Newton, Chloe Sevigny, Resh Sidhu, So Yong Kim, Sylvia Sims, Ming Smith, Zoe Wanamaker, and others.
THE VOICE OF A WOMAN AWARDS | VOW AWARDS - were first established in 2012 at The National Portrait Gallery in London and have been presented each year in London, New York and Cannes. Among the VOW AWARDS recipients to date are: Grace Jones, Shirin Neshat, Sylvia Syms OBE, Thandie Newton OBE, Zoe Wanamaker CBE, Deeyah Khan, Chloe Sevigny, Ming Smith, Shola Lynch, Crystal Moselle and others.
Produced, directed and curated this international festival and art fair featuring the works of women artists. Created a series of Talks exploring the artist's works, creative practice and journey. Among the artists featured have been: Shirin Neshat, Naomie Harris OBE, Sylvia Syms OBE, Chloe Sevigny, Crystal Moselle, Ming Smith, Shola Lynch, Jenn Nkiru, Lynne Hershman Leeson and others.
Directed film of Chaka Khan’s performance and behind the scenes at The Blue Note in New York City.
Directed the play "Jitney" by August Wilson, moderated at The Actors Studio in Los Angeles by actor/director Martin Landau.
