About

Since graduating from the University of Bradford in 2004 I have worked in commercial archaeology on a wide range of sites in England and Wales and sought to expand my experience by working on rescue excavations in the 4th cataract region of Sudan. Combined with my work in the Pitt Rivers Museum and my academic studies I believe I have developed a breadth and depth of knowledge that ensures I am a knowledgeable and efficient archaeologist who can make a valuable contribution to any organisation. I spent fourteen months on placement as part of my undergraduate degree studies undertaking a wide variety of jobs across the archaeological spectrum, from pre-excavation meetings, excavation, post-excavation analysis, report production, Historic Environment Records management, surveying and the management of monuments and our archaeological heritage. My experience in commercial archaeology significantly developed my excavation and interpretation skills. I sought to maximize my potential by working on a diverse range of sites, from Neolithic landscapes, Saxon cremation cemeteries, Roman and medieval urban centres to 19th century nonconformist cemeteries. My MSc enabled me to develop my analytical and interpretative skills. My dissertation, on post-medieval antimony smelting, provided the opportunity to combine scientific analysis with knowledge of the archaeological process gained in my commercial work, ensuring a holistic approach in the investigation of material culture. A common thread throughout my professional and academic archaeological career has been the need to communicate archaeological information to non-archaeologists. This has included teaching primary school children to record stone tools, giving public gallery talks and most recently undertaking undergraduate medieval seminars at Cardiff. I am experienced on a range of sites and analytical equipment, a quick learner, hard working and am always finish the job in hand.
