"Elucidation of the catalytic properties of Ga/H-ZSM5 zeolite catalyst for light alkane dehydrogenation and dehydroaromatization chemistry" This work was awarded by the Innovation Prize 2018 from Swiss Process & Chemical Engineers Society for the novelty, the creativity and the boldness of the project. Master thesis in Heterogeneous Catalysis conducted in the Professor Alexis T.Bell Research Group. The project was focused on synthesis, characterization and kinetic studies of a novel heterogeneous catalyst for Chevron. This work required understanding on catalysis principles (mass-transport phenomena, adsorption, kinetics...) but also mastering many technical skills to perform gas-phase reactions. The main duties were: • Support run activities by on-line analysis using GC • Perform catalyst characterization using chemical & spectroscopic probes • Make catalyst synthesis • Attend the seminars of the research's group & give monthly-based presentation on project advancement • Installation of equipment (reactor, MFC, thermo controller, swagelok line) & gas cylinders • Protocolling of experiments based on literature research & results analysis
Intern at Novartis in Continuous Manufacturing department which required both engineering and chemistry skills. The goal was to study long-term continuous crystallizations experiments, typically run for 70 to 80 hours during a week requiring significant support during the preparation-execution and shutdown phases. This work required understanding on crystallization principle (oversaturation, growth, nucleation, seeding...) but also mastering many technical skills to build experimental devices. The main duties were: • Support run activities by on-line analysis thanks to own previous calibrated system • Installation of equipment (reactor, pump, thermostat, swagelok line) & on-line probes (ReactIR, FBRM) • Protocolling of experiments & results • Sampling & filtration from each stages during run activities • HPLC/GC measurements from samples collected during run activities • Microscopy analysis of produced particles • Support start-up by preparation of feed solution • Sample preparation for submission: XPRD & PSD
