- Designing next‑gen fusion reactor components (first‑wall materials & shielding systems). - Performing neutron & charged‑particle flux modeling and structural analyses. - Conducting radiation analyses, dose assessments, and radionuclide monitoring.
Capstone Project title: Advanced Simulation for First Wall Materials in Inertial Fusion Reactors - Evaluating candidate materials for the first wall of an inertial fusion reactor. - Use of advanced simulation techniques to study radiation damage and heavy ion transport with PHITS. - Analyze of material properties under extreme conditions (radiation, neutron and alpha particle flux) to assess structural integrity. - Optimizing first wall design for improved reactor performance and longevity to ultimately provide a material recommendation to Ex-Fusion.
