Since 2024 at Fusion for Energy working on Fuel Cycle Technologies in the Fusion Technology and Engineering Department - FUTED. From 2022 to 2024 working for ATG Europe as Expert for Fusion for Energy on Cryogenics and Vacuum. 2008 to 2022 Working at ITER to develop the vacuum system with its bespoke cryogenic pumps (Group Leader). 2000 to 2008 Vacuum Researcher at Karlsruhe Institute of Technology
Support of the Cryoplant and Fuel Cycle team in: 1. Support of the construction of a test facility for a cryogenic distillation column used in the ITER Isotope Separation System (ISS) at the tritium laboratory of Karlsruhe/Germany, a future sub-system of the ITER tritium plant. 2. Support technology readiness reviews for the ITER tritium plant. 3. Participation in the ITER tritium summits 2023 and 2024. 4. Support of the manufacturing of the Torus and Cryostat Cryopumps and their sub-systems to prepare the deliveries to ITER. 5. Review of Non-Conformities-Reports from suppliers that are manufacturing Protection Important Components to support the decision/acceptance on the remedial actions. 6. Training of the engineers in vacuum knowledge and the manufacturing requirements for ITER vacuum components. This is a 12 hours vacuum course (6 x 2h) that I prepared and have given in face to face and remote training sessions. It starts with vacuum basics and covers ITER vacuum requirements, Manufacturing designs and the ITER vacuum systems. 7. Support of ATG in questions on vacuum compliance and manufacturing problems for ITER components. 8. Supporting the fuel cycle team on possible simplifications of the ITER vacuum system to enhance more efficient and for schedule and costs advantageable solutions.
Leader of a group of 15 engineers and technicians for the engineering, manufacture and system qualifications of the ITER Vacuum Systems. Responsible for the developments and procurements with Fusion for Energy of the ITER cryogenic and mechanical pumping systems. Leading and developing an efficient surveillance of the suppliers of the Torus and Cryostat Cryo-pumping Systems and the related plant systems. The procurements and manufacturing followed the nuclear safety requirements applied via the French Order 7 February 2012 to ITER machine categorized as Basic Nuclear Installation in France. Contract preparation and definition of technical documentation and Procurement Arrangements with the European Domestic Agency, the United States Domestic Agency and the industry for the procurement of ITER components and systems. Management of the development teams in the Vacuum Delivery Group for the qualification of the nuclear safety systems and vacuum instrumentation. Profound experience in the development of vacuum compliant solutions and manufacturing methods for components with nuclear safety functions. Demonstration of compliance with the EN harmonized standards, ASME standards and RCC-MR under specific environmental conditions, also covering ionizing radiation (nuclear loads).
