“It’s kind of fun to do the impossible”- Walt Disney The quote above is one that has inspired me to push the boundaries while doing anything throughout my life. I am very persistent and eager to learn. I am always looking to improve on my weaknesses as well as my strengths. I believe that practice makes perfect, which is why I never give up and always give it my all with everything I do. I have been fortunate to complete two full time internships with both the Gurnee Park District and Buffalo Grove Park District. During my internships I was able to absorb outstanding customer service skills, through working the front desk and running special events. Before that time I also got to work in a different atmosphere, working for Cold Stone Creamery. At Cold Stone I was able to bring entertainment to customers on a daily basis. Whether it was throwing ice cream down the line or singing after getting tips, making the customer’s time in the shop a memorable one was our top priority. Going past my academics and professional experiences I also give back to the community whenever possible. I have volunteered at numerous notable agencies including; Feed my Starving Children, PADS Homeless Shelter, and Samaritan’s Purse. These opportunities have enabled me to work closely with other volunteers and clients from diverse populations. I have fostered excellent cross-cultural communication skills through these experiences and am able to build strong relationships. Overall I am a person who try’s to accomplish the impossible by giving 110 percent in everything I do. I take pride in providing exceptional customer service, staying organized, and being creative. I believe that by staying true to those three attributes, and giving 110 percent that I will be able to accomplish extraordinary tasks and will find “It’s kind of fun to do the impossible”.
As a Segway Tour Guide I am in charge of providing guests with a memorable experience during the 2 hour guided tour. Along the tour I give different facts of the area as well as history of The Disney Company. Also, I inform guests of different events and activities around the property as well as other local destinations. As an Archery Instructor I taught groups of guests ages 7 and older how to safely and effectively shoot a compound bow.
As a Trainer at the Walt Disney Company, I am responsible for motivating and empowering trainees with the company's culture and brand. I educate trainees of the essential tasks required to perform their job at the highest level and effectively provide feedback to trainees to help them learn and grow.
As a Recreation Host for the Walt Disney Company, I provide excellent customer service to guests by following the company’s core values. I am responsible for completing daily checklists, reporting risk management requests, informing guests on safety guidelines, and performing cash handling and banking out procedures. Along with these tasks I use my organizational skills to make sure that all waivers and forms are completed by guests and filed in the appropriate locations. Lastly, I collaborate with my team to find the most efficient way to get all our tasks done each day.
As the Recreation Supervisor at the Wildwood Park District, I was in charge of the whole Recreation Department. I was responsible for planning, scheduling, staffing, advertising, evaluating, and securing supplies and materials for all recreation classes and special events. Furthermore, I hired, trained, and evaluated up to 25 part time staff throughout the year, created the seasonal Park District Brochures, and served on the Park District's Safety and Wellness Committee.
I spent my time helping the Deerfield Public School District 109 prepare for the upcoming school year. This included painting, replacing tiles, moving furniture, and helping teachers pack and organize their classrooms. After my first year I moved into a leadership position and was in charge of my own group of workers. It was my job to assign them jobs for the day and to make sure they stayed on task.
With Courtyard by Marriott, I was responsible for checking in and out over 50 guests on a daily average, while providing outstanding communication and customer service skills. I also supplied guests with directions and information regarding property amenities, services, and hours of operation, as well as directions to local areas of interest. Lastly, I ran and reviewed approximately 30 operational reports to check that all charges had been posted correctly with no errors such as invalid payments, incorrect postings and other discrepancies have been made throughout the day.
As a Recreation Intern for the Buffalo Grove Park District, I was responsible for numerous special events. It was my responsibility to plan, implement, and evaluate the events that I facilitated. These events included: A Senior Luncheon, the Bow Wow Dog Event, Fun Free Tuesday, and National Night Out. Lastly, during my time with the Buffalo Grove Park District I had the opportunity to shadow and assist supervisors with their day to day operations.
