I have more than 28 years in higher education in a variety of leadership roles. My experience includes working in student affairs, university advancement, auxiliaries services, and as a university instructor.
Serve as department head to the student newspaper and yearbook, advising staffs on journalistic, artistic, technology and legal issues. Responsible for student staff recruitment, selection and training and for department’s marketing, branding and advertising campaigns. Also serve as technology manager, including the selection and installation of computer hardware and software and digital camera equipment. Have managed student publications staffs that have won 62 state, regional and national awards. The Vermilion received a first-place ranking from the American Scholastic Press Association in New York, Fall 2023 and 2024. Vermilion staff received the 2023 Student Organization of the Year Award and 2025's Marketing Award at UL's Ragin' Recognition ceremony. At the 2023 Southeast Journalism Conference, The Vermilion placed first overall in best newspaper. The staff also placed 4th in design and layout, 4th in overall website, 6th in illustrations and 10th in press photography. The Vermilion received a second-place award from the American Scholastic Press Association in New York in 2022. The Vermilion also placed fourth overall at the 2021 Southeast Journalism Conference and second overall at SEJC in 2020. L'Acadien yearbook earned a first-place evaluation in 2025 from Prejean Creative, a nationally recognized branding and design firm. L'Acadien staff earned a first-place national award in 2021, 2022 and 2024 from the American Scholastic Press Association. Yearbook was also named the Best Overall College Yearbook by ASPA in 2024. L'Acadien also earned a second-place ASPA national award in 2023. L'Acadien staff was named the UL Outstanding Student Organization at the Ragin' Recognition Awards in 2022. Awarded the UL Student Affairs Dean McPhaul Award for demonstrating "a significant and extraordinary history of service to students on the UL Lafayette campus" in April 2023. Named UL Lafayette Student Affairs Outstanding Adviser for 2022.
Teach UNIV 100, Cajun Connection courses. Also teach freshmen English writing courses.
Managed the university's Ragin' Cajuns Store website, including programming, site maintenance, product selection and studio photography. Collaborated with Auxiliaries Services staff to develop a new logo and to rebrand The Ragin' Cajuns Store's three locations. Created ads and promotions for print and social media campaigns. Work with university faculty, staff and students on promotions for The Ragin' Cajuns Store. Managed the university's wholesale operations plan to increase sales for the university and increase the number of Ragin' Cajuns products available in the Acadiana area.
Served as department head and budget unit head, advising the student newspaper and yearbook staffs on journalistic, artistic and legal issues. Wrote $80,000 worth of computer/ photography equipment grants for department from 2001-06. Department received the university’s first President’s Pinnacle of Pride Award in 2006 as the best student organization (first out of 130 organizations). Yearbook staff received six consecutive first-place rankings from the American Scholastic Press Association in New York from 2001-06. Yearbook staff also won 12 regional and national awards, including 2002’s Best Modern Looking College Yearbook and a 2004 National Award of Excellence. Student newspaper earned 23 Louisiana Press Association Awards from 2003-07.
Taught freshmen as an adjunct English instructor from 1998 to 2007. Named to Who’s Who Among Teachers in 2000 and 2004.
Supervised the design and production of the university's annual yearbook. Managed the student staff, including recruitment, selection, and training. Also responsible for the selection and installation of computer hardware and software and camera equipment and for directing department's marketing and branding efforts.
Served as student editor for university biannual publication. Involved with all aspects of magazine planning and production, including idea generation, writing, photography, editing, pre-press, and bid aspects. Also served for one year as researcher for university's Centennial history book produced in 1999.
Duties involved supervising the fueling, towing, and pre-flight operations of corporate and commercial aircraft. Also responsible for charter flights, financial transactions, and fuel inventory, and quality control.
