Healthcare Scientist Practitioner at Public Health Scotland working as part of the Viral Respiratory team to provide reliable epidemic intelligence. A hard-working and enthusiastic epidemiologist with a Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Infectious Diseases from the University of Edinburgh and a Masters of Science (MSc) from the University of Glasgow in the Epidemiology of Infectious Diseases and Antimicrobial Resistance. Previously I have worked as a Lab Scientist in a ISO15189 accredited medical diagnostics lab run by the University of Glasgow in coalition with the NHS. This role involves processing patient samples for the detection of SARS-CoV-2 using RT-PCR. Academic study has allowed me to develop my technical knowledge and practical laboratory skills through a variety of projects and courses, as well as sparking a great interest in communicable diseases and their global burden on society. Working within the field of healthcare sciences and infectious diseases aligns with my passion to better the lives of others using the skills and knowledge I have developed during my career thus far.
