Responsible for all technical aspects of the Pre-Feasibility and Feasibility stages of the Cliffs Chromite Ring of Fire Project related to the Ferrochrome Production Facility. I am also responsible for ongoing test work and test work development of pilot scale DC furnace smelting in Canada. Economic evaluations and interactions with support groups ranging from Finance, Safety, Environment and engineering. Interactions with local communities and government departments as required.
Led the team of 260 personnel in the safe, sustainable and economical production of ferrochrome from 6 submerged arc furnaces and a chrome recovery plant. Full operational control of all aspects related to production, engineering, safety, human resources and project development. Oversaw furnace rebuilds, capacity increases and process changes related to raw materials and casting methods. Formed integral part of site leadership team through corporate restructuring following market collapse in 2009 and have extensive experience in unon negotiation and site leadership. Acted as General Manager as required.
EPCM, Feasibility and PRe-Feasibility projects related to platinum concentrators, gold plants and ferrochrome smelting. Assisting the project team with metallurgical balances, plant design and technical selection for the design and contruction of several different hydrometallurgical plants. Undertook techno-economic reviews of existing projects for underwriters.
Operational control of all production related activities at a 4 furnace submerged arc ferrochrome facility. Responsibilities encompassed production, safety, human resource management, projects, metallurgical improvements, business improvements. Led a team of 5 shifts and 3 engineers. Total reports 90. Full control over production process from raw materials loading, smelting and casting. Refractory, auxiliary systems and all associated equipment operated under my watch.
