Eni is devising a new Biorefinery based on Ecofining™ technology, located at the Petrochemical Site at Priolo Gargallo (SR, Italy). This initiative aims to increase the production of biofuels, specifically HVO Diesel and BioJet, using pre-treated bio-feedstock. The new Biorefinery will process 500,000 t/years of pre-treated bio-feedstock fed to Ecofining Unit (Waste and Residue/Animal fat, Vegetable Oils), to produce BioJet (ASTM D7566) and HVO-diesel (ASTM D975) with maximum flexibility. The configuration of the new Biorefinery includes the following main process systems: • New Pre-Treatment Unit PTU • New EcofiningTM Unit • New Hydrogen Production Unit (HPU, Steam Reforming) • New Ancillaries (including e.g., Amine Treating, SWS, sulphur removal, etc.) • Utilities • Interconnecting (including existing flare network) • Tank Farm • Inbound and outbound Logistic • General infrastructure and buildings • Other, as required to support the operations Existing infrastructure, including, but not limited to, jetties, tank loading and unloading facilities, pipelines, tankage, electrical rooms, control rooms, flare networks, and the steam cracker stack, are reused in the new plant configuration as needed. As SAIPEM Project Director, I was the key figure in the Project Organisation responsible for ensuring that the project times, costs, quality, health, safety, environmental and sustainability objectives are met through actions of monitoring, coordination and direction. I was also responsible to ensure project governance in organisational, financial, risk management, technological, and contractual terms, of planning project activities and coordinating the company processes involved in the project in accordance with the Client's requirements while taking into consideration time, cost, quality and safety constraints and the rules of company governance.

Thai Oil Clean Fuel Project (CFP) Sriracha Refinery, Thailand has a worth about $4.825-million and consists in modification / upgrade of the actual existing facility. It includes the retirement of two crude distillation units (CDU), the addition of a fourth, 220,000-b/d CDU to the existing third unit to raise the refinery’s total crude capacity to 400,000 b/d from its actual 226,000 b/d. The project also consists in the addition of a vacuum gas oil hydrocracker, a residue hydrocracker, a hydrogen manufacturing unit, a naphtha hydrotreater, a diesel hydrodesulfurization unit, a sulfur recovery unit, and an electric power plant fuelled by residue pitch. The refinery, now 100% dependent on light crude, will have a crude slate after completion of the project of 40-50% light crude, 5-15% medium crude, and 40-50% heavy crude. The CFP also will improve product yields to 25% light distillate, 62% middle distillate, and 13% others, such as sulphur, long residue, and reformate, with no fuel oil. As SAIPEM Project Director, (SAIPEM – Petrofac – SAMSUNG Consortium Project Co-Director) formally appointed for Thai Oil Clean Fuel Project (CFP) , I was the key figure in the Project Organisation responsible for ensuring that the project times, costs, quality, health, safety, environmental and sustainability objectives are met through actions of monitoring, coordination and direction.
